I really enjoyed it. I was initially thinking of cancelling as I didn't fancy 2 hours up Carlton Hill outside. I'm glad the venue changed to the national gallery cafe and hope meetings can continue there. Definitely an indoor space would be best. Robyn was so lovely and had a few suggestions for everyone's work as it took shape. The small group worked well around a table. If the group size grows then not so easy for Robyn to see everyone unless it's a big table.

I started drawing and painting by chance nearly 3 years ago . I had cancer diagnosis, lost a kidney, the other kidney is not great and I got very depressed. My ex colleagues gifted me some art materials and I was shocked because I haven't been painting since age of 12 and I was 52 at the time. Then I put my big girl pants on and started following acrylic tutorials. I also have been drawing every day using a sketching app for daily prompts. Since July 2021 I am painting and drawing originals.

"Mystic "is an intuitive work in acrylic on canvas and measures 61cm sqr. It begins life as a few marks on a blank canvas and from then on each mark suggests the next one. This is how all my paintings evolve. I am obsessed with colour and composition which seems to come naturally to me. I know when a work is finished because it seems to let me know " there is nothing more to do here, it is time to move on" I listen to my work now, instead of my inner critic and it is wonderful to know I have cre

I work with a doctor that has dachshunds and she commisioned me to paint her pups! Done in acylics 15 in x 30 in on canvas. It was fun painting this and I put a lake tahoe background as the pups were actually in a pen and the owner has a cabin in Tahoe and wanted a sun setting sky.

This piece depicts a woman with an exaggerated highlight, giving off the impression that she is basking in the sun. It is ultimately a tribute to the powerful black women I grew up around, creating and being part of the inspiration for why I create. It is a mixed media portrait, utilizing mostly colored pencils and pens.

Title or Location: A Place to Breathe
I wanted to create a place of tranquility and quiet. A retreat into nature where you can take a moment to breathe. There is a hush over the valley. The storm is over and the water quietly continues on its way much as it has always done. It is here I invite you to stay for a moment or two and rest.
